B0R - Brackenham
A bustling fishing hamlet populated by simple hardworking folk. It is a short walk from a natural switchback down the cliff face, which allows access to a very simple docks for their fishing boats on the Short Sea. A few residents keep goats for milk and cheese production and the few farmers here primarily grow oats, most other folk are generally fishermen or related to those trades. The women are often gathering from the surrounding wilderness, harvesting wild nettles to turn into clothing and nets, and collecting seasonal fruits and berries. An exceptional musician often resides here in other people's homes (see below).

[At night you can always smell smoke, and have a 50% chance of fog]
Brackenham - Dwelling Location
All the buildings here are small, rudimentary and residential, but they’re generally happy to take in strangers and especially knights. Anyone who works on or around the Short Sea (so generally the fishermen) tend to be exceptionally superstitious - there are many oddities to be found in those waters, and they will take offense to those being dismissive of folk practices in the area.
Common dishes served are fish and fiddleheads, salted fish and peas pottage, and berry sweetened porridge.
Common superstitions involve exaggerated stamping of one's feet before entering a property, shuttering windows and securely blocking doors during foggy nights (night pots are used for calls of nature), the expected covering of red/ginger hair and objects (where they can be) with the need to touch something metal should you see something red that is not covered.
Wants
Residents will want basic needs dealt with, but novelties and spectacle are generally most sought after. Befitting offerings left at Flitters bridge will also curry good favour amongst the locals.
The hamlet as a whole generally prefers folks leaving the Burntburh Ruins alone, as they don’t wish to awaken the spirits that reside there or stir up the same trouble that befell it.
Rumours
Whatever caused the cataclysm of Burntburh lies dormant in the short sea, waiting to return.
The Weorpan Seer made the Wayward Monolith, but no one can agree on why.
The Weorpan Seer is responsible for the short sea being so odd.
The Ancient Knight is not actually all that old, they just became old when they became knighted.
Arfrith is in a relationship with a selkie in the short sea, the music they compose is so magical because it's inspired by her singing the songs from below the waves.
Some travellers have sought the Weorpan Seer in the middle of winter, apparently knowing a route that lets them avoid the worst of the weather.
Arfrith the hermit musician
Arfrith is quite eccentric but also a bit of a local celebrity, being gifted in the composition and playing of music that is quite transcendent to hear. They’re doted upon by the locals here, living off of their charity and generosity. They are often found either living in someone else's home in Brackenham, out on the Short Sea with fishermen or in their own row boat during the day, or putting on performances in Fiddlehill on the last day of each week (where they will sometimes reside in a small hovel).
Arfrith is quite difficult to talk to and doesn’t really enjoy conversation, preferring to play one of the many instruments they’re gifted in - which they are very gifted in and often leave in other people's homes. They say the Short Sea is their muse, and they only really want to compose and play music inspired by it. They will favour anyone willing to travel with them across the sea, especially if they’re the ones rowing or providing the boat.
What can you find here?
Whittled statuettes - many kinds of fantastical creatures or mundane ones given wings carved from wood here, as a few skilled residents will spend their evenings making them.
Sea charms - a variety of unusual objects that are considered good luck charms for sea travel, from lumpy pearl like tokens, to palm sized cages made from fishbones and thread.
Fermented fish sauce - pungent and potent, but full of umami flavors.
Fern-patterned earthenware - simple vessels with elaborate stencilling of the local fens to give a decorative flair.
Warded blankets - woven from bramble fibers, these blankets are a bit coarse, but the weave pattern is said to protect sleepers from roaming spirits disturbing their sleep.
Fish cheese - made from goat's milk, not fish, but it is a rare local delicacy with a strong and tangy taste that is often paired with fish.
Sparks
