Burntburh: A0 - Wellspring Peak

A0 - Wellspring Peak

A tall mountain range consisting of twisted stone spires and dangerous steep climbs. Many of the rocks here are formed into vertically arranged stone pillars. Numerous natural springs can be found throughout the area, all feeding into a lake which culminates in a single large river flowing into B0.

[At night you can always smell smoke, and have a 50% chance of fog]

Winter Ice - Seasonal Hazard

During winter the weather is always dire here, and the sheer ice-slicked climbs make the hex also count as a hazard. D6 VIG loss to anyone not appropriately equipped to deal with both the cold and the excessively steep terrain.

You can find the Weorpan Seer here in their sanctum, the Sinkhole Cradle.

Weorpan Seer

VIG 8, CLA 18, SPI 12, 10GD

  • A lithe body with impossibly long hair and no attached arms, but surrounded by numerous floating arms that slip in and out of existence.

  • They can pick you up and transport you to anywhere in the realm in moments.

  • Wants to disrupt any status quo in order to take things in new directions.

A few additional notes.

  • They can have as many arms as they like, at any distance from themselves.

  • Their hair can grow at whatever speed they wish it to, and is oil slick black.

  • If you try to attack them or damage their sanctum they will respond by throwing you into a random hex somewhere in the realm. You’ll then become blacklisted and this will happen automatically whenever you approach in future.

  • It’s important to note that they don’t want chaos, they just want constant change.

  • A simple way to ingratiate yourself with them is to change some aspect of yourself each season, such as armour/clothing, chosen weapon, hairstyles etc.

Sinkhole Cradle - Sanctum

A spiral path works its way around down the sides of a steep basin, at the centre of which is a 100ft hole leading to a massive underground cavern. The bottom of the cavern is a dark pool around 400ft down which is always reflecting the stars no matter the weather or time of day.

Spanning the gulf in the centre of the cavern is an ever shifting web of braided hair.

The whole whirling structure is disorientating and chaotic to behold as the seers' arms continually manipulate and weave it together into new shapes. Strands of hair are even being unbraided and rebraided into multiple new strands. It’s like looking at several interweaved cats-cradles all moving at once and viewed through a kaleidoscope.

The Weorpan Seer can be found constantly walking an erratic path across this three dimensional net. Those seeking their council have to shout across the echoing chamber, as there’s few other options available to them.

What can you find here?

  1. Wellspring water - when taken directly from the source it is particularly refreshing, and is useful in creating stimulants and potions.

  2. Spire whetstones - some pillars of stone can be found flecked with tiny red-orange crystals, coupled with a distinctive grain they make for both attractive and high quality whetstones.

  3. Cloud moss - particularly prevalent in the valleys and basins which hold the fog for longer this moss makes for a fantastic sponge and water filter, it is said to even be able to remove poison strained through it.

  4. Wallcreepers - a small bird with vibrant red and black plumage during the breeding season (harvest), wearing said features is meant to impart good luck when climbing.

  5. Goat bone cairns - you can find small cairns covering goat bones, some think the making and maintaining these keeps the mountain happy and prevents you from getting caught in bad weather.

  6. Weorpan hair - it is possible to find strands of hair from the seer who lives here, often rarely found woven into a bird’s nest. It is said if you hang a net woven out of this hair over you whilst you sleep, your dreams may contain prophecies of the future.
